Well, I think that winter has finally arrived and going to stay for a while.
DD loves the snow, so we bundled up this morning and headed outside to enjoy the snow.
Here she is taking a closer look at the snow:
Umm, I think this needs the good old fashioned taste test:

It is surprisingly difficult to get a good picture of someone making a snow angel. Here is my pathetic attempt. Does anyone have any tips?

Finally, I have tried several times this winter, without any sucess to get some macro pictures of a snowflake. These are by far the best that I have gotten yet.
For these pictures, I took a piece of foam core board, that I had spray painted black outside with me. After waiting for it to cool down, I set it in the driveway and let the snow fall on it. Then I had to lie down on the ground (thank goodness I had my snowpants on) so that I could steady the camera with my elbows braced on the ground. Then all I had to do was focus and snap away hoping that the wind did not blow those beautiful tiny flakes away before I could get a picture of them. I was able to darken the backgound in the first one, but not in the second without losing the details of that one very fine snowflake. Looking at these posted here now, I guess that I could have cloned out some of the very small pieces of ice, since they do no really add to the picture. Maybe later.
These are for all you folks enjoying the nice warm weather down south:
