Sneak Peek for the "A" Family

I am busy, busy these last few days before Christmas, but aren't we all.  I did want to take a minute though to share a picture from the wonderful family session I had yesterday.

It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with the "A" family.  They are so full of live and loving and just a ton of fun to be around.

They were brave enough to venture outside in all this snow, and I must say I just love the way the pictures turned out!  The backyard was beautiful even with a covering of snow, so I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer.  This birch tree made the perfect spot for a winter portrait.

Winter Wonderland

Just sharing a few pictures of the snow we have been getting this winter.

The top picture is the first day we got snow when we got about 6 inches.  The bottom photo was taken after it snowed for 3 days and Lucan officially received 177 cm of snow according to Environment Canada.  Living out in the country the snow blows around and drifts a lot so I am not sure how they measure the actual snowfall, but whether it was 177cm or not, it was a lot of snow.

I think the snow always looks so pretty on the pine trees.

Can you see how much snow is sitting on the branches of the tree?

It may not look like that much snow in this picture, but the fence is actually 3 board high.  In places you can just see the top of the middle board and the bottom on is completely buried in the snow.

Beautiful 2 month old

I am so excited to share this session.  This little one was just so adorable, and such a good baby too.

I usually try to photograph newborn babies when they are still nice and fresh.. This is usually within the first 2 weeks of being born when they are sleepy and all squishy.  However, photographing a little one this young does not always happen for various reasons.  Generally I find after the first couple of weeks babies are usually a little more alert and do not like to curl up the same, so it is makes getting those nice sleepy poses much more difficult.  I did not get a chance to photograph this little one until she was 2 months old.   I was not sure what sort of poses I would be able to get with her, but Miss S was fabulous!  She did them all the awake, interacting with Mom an Dad as well as some sleeping poses.  As you can see from the pictures she was a very calm, relaxed baby.  I am sure her parents play a big part in her demeanor.  Great parents ~great baby.

On to the images!

Peacefully sleeping

There is nothing like a Mother's love.

She was so cute peeking over Daddy's shoulder.

Love, love, love this family picture.  Such a beautiful family.

This little darling had the cutest little hat and coat that I just had to use for a few pictures.

My favourite from the session. Wait, I am not sure.  It is so hard to decide.   Maybe I like the family one a little better.  There are just so many great images from this session, it is impossible to pick one.

Happy Birthday "E"

I cannot believe another year has passed.  It seemed like just a short while ago that we celebrated your last birthday.  I swear it goes by faster and faster each year.

I always ask what kind of a cake you would like for your birthday and you always have a great and challenging idea for me.  This year was not exception.  You decided upon a snowflake cake.  You also insisted that it could not just be a cake with snowflakes on it, but it also had to be in the shape of a snowflake.  I am not sure I have ever seen a snowflake shaped cake pan, so I had to do the best I could.  I think it turned out just fine in the end.  We even had come matching cupcakes too.

Okay so not the best picture, but it shows the cake.

I hope you liked your cake!

Whether or not your cake was exactly as you had imagined it, I do know that you are getting more beautiful with each passing day and I love to see the person you are growing and developing into.  So kind, so thoughtful and always helpful.   I see so many changes in a year, I can only imagine what the next year will bring.

It's Still Snowing

It snowed most of the day yesterday as well as all day today.  The wind was whipping around a lot last night, blowing the snow everywhere, resulting in some huge drifts in places.

The view out the kitchen window.

The ice on the window to the south.

My outdoor tree.

This is the huge drift back at out barn.  We all know D is 6 ft tall without shoes on.  As you can see the drift behind the kids is still taller than D and that is with boots and a hat the the hood and everything on.

Another view of the drift.

I tired to take a picture of E but the snow was blowing around so much it was next to impossible.

Playing in the snowdrifts.

Here she was peeking through a hole she made in the huge drift, but again the snow was blowing around so much I could not get a good picture of her.

My little snow girl.  She loves the snow, can you tell?

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Snow is just what it did yesterday.  We had 6 1/2 inches of snow yesterday, with the promise of more snow every day for the next week.

Here are a few snow pictures from around the yard and neighbourhood.
