Did you know that the Alaska Marine Highway's ferry system recently won All American Road status, which is the highest honour for a roadway in the Untied States. This ferry system connects the smaller southeast communities with each other as most of them are only accessible by air or sea.
The scenery along this part of the inside passage is simply amazing. You are surround by majestic mountains, glaciers, a few waterfalls and plenty of little islands along the way. We were even lucky enough to spot a few blue whales along the way. Unfortunately it was raining at the time, so I did not get any photographs, but I am sure the pictures in my mind will be there for a long time to come.
Here is some of the scenery along the ferry route on the inside passage.
Leaving Skagway.
Yes that is the Disney Alaska cruise ship tucked in on the right hand side there.

Can you see the tiny bit of blue glacier just peeking out from behind the clouds?

Look at those beautiful snow capped mountains surrounded by the clouds. Breathtaking!
A little closer look.

Now we can see there is a little town down there. Imagine the view you would have from your house if you lived there. Ocean on one side, mountains on the other!
This little town is Haines Alaska. The ferry made a quick stop there to pick up more passengers before setting off again for Juneau.
Even once you get around the other point, you can still see the mountains in the background.
