Shabby Chic Peonies

After the rain a week ago, the peonies were bent over touching the ground. E did not want to see them on the ground, so she picked them and brought them in the house for me/us to enjoy. It was the perfect opportunity to take some picture for fun and to experiment with my post processing to achieve a different look. I have always loved the french country, shabby chic, vintage sort of a style and hope that these are reminiscent of that.

Congratulations D

Now I don't typically go on and on about my children, but I did want to take this post to congratulate my son and let him know just how proud his Dad and I are of his accomplishments.

During his second year of cadets D has been a member of the flag party. This is quite an honour in itself as the members of flag party are chosen by their superiors. As a member of flag party you must know the proper flag etiquette and perform your duties correctly at all times. If you do not maintain a certain standard, you are removed from flag party and replaced by another cadet.

Preparing to march on at the Annual Inspection

D also received the Best Cadet Award for the Red Star Level. This award is presented to the top cadet in each Star level who has demonstrated a high level of proficiency and skill throughout the training year.

Congratulations again D!

Baby Blue Jay

Every year I have spotted a Blue Jay our two around our house, but this year I noticed them quite a bit more than usual. I think they must have built at nest in one of the large trees near our porch. Now, if you familiar with Blue Jays, you know just how loud they can be. Well, the other day, they were so loud and just would not stop, so I went outside to investigate. Here was this cute little fellow in the grass being examined very closely by our dog. Guess Mama and Papa Blue Jay were not very happy about this and hence all the squawking! I was able to get the dog away and managed a few pictures before I moved this little fellow to a safer location in our backyard garden. My DD has been digging up worms for him and his Mama and Papa have been bringing him food and checking on him as well. He seems to be doing quite well, and hopefully will find his wings soon so he can join the rest of the birds.

Great Little Guy

Mr L decided to make his appearance a week early, so unfortunately I was not able to photograph him quite as early as I usually do, but when I was finally able to take his picture, he was the perfect little angel.

I just love it when they smile.

Look at his little toes peeking out from behind his elbow. So cute!

What a great moment.

She said "She Missed Playing in the Mud"

Last weekend after the rain, E saw the dog playing in the mud, and thought maybe she should join her. Now, if any of you have followed my blog for a long time, you will remember that my daughter loved to play in the mud when she was younger, but has not for quite a while now. Seeing the dog in the mud must have triggered some sort of memory for her.

Here she is with the instigator and partner in crime:

More Signs of Spring

I thought I would share some of the recent pictures I have taken of all the buds, and emerging leaves on the trees, as well as those early spring flowers that have bloomed.
