Character Encounters

One of "E's" favorite things at Disney was to meet the characters! I was surprised, I thought she might find those big heads and costumes a little scary. She in fact was quite the opposite, she loved it and gave each one of them a huge hug before posing for a picture. I think Pooh and Tigger were her favorites aside from the Princess, but that is another whole post in itself.

We were even able to "D" in on the action for a few, although he still had to maintain that cool look.




Even though Pooh got two hugs, I think Tigger had the longest hug ever!








Since "E" seems so comfortable with the Mickey and Minnie they asked her to pose this way so that they could kiss and we could have something different than the usual pose. It was so cute! I think all the other people in line wanted this pose too, there were a lot of awes as it was being done.

Walt Disney World

Sorry for the long break in posting on my blog, but we were away enjoying family vacation in Florida.

While in Florida, our first order of business was to visit Walt Disney World to see Mickey and Friends. We stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and it was only a short boat ride over to Magic Kingdom. Here is the picture from the boat while approaching the castle:

We truly had a wonderful vacation, and I have plenty more pictures to share with you in the coming days. As you can see from the pictures, we hit one of those unusual cold snaps while at Disney. Even though I was looking forward to the warm weather, I think the cooler temps actually made walking around Disney for the day quite enjoyable.

What a Sweetie

This little guy was so cute, but very stubborn, he did not want to sleep for me at all. I was able to get a few sleepy looking shots though.

Autumn Afternoon at the Park

I had the pleasure last weekend of meeting up with this wonderful family to take pictures of them at the park. The fall colours were out in full force and so pretty. What a wonderful backdrop for family pictures.

The kids were playing outside while I was busy cleaning up from Thanksgiving Dinner when they came it and told me to get the camera and come on outside, as "D" was sure that I would want to take some pictures of the sunset. He was certainly right, who would want to miss such a beautiful sunset?

These next two are just the reflections of the trees on the nice calm waters of the river above. I love how they turned out, with a sort of impressionist feel to them.

What a Way to Start the Day

This was a nice way to greet the day as we walked outside to take "E" to the bus for school yesterday. I am so glad that I caught this rainbow and little bunch of sunshine, since it was cold and rainy on and off for the rest of the day.

Cheltenham Badlands

It was such a beautiful weekend that our family decided to take a drive to see the Cheltanham Badlands by Toronto.

Here is a little more information about them copied from this site:

Millions of years ago, what we know today as The Great Lakes, a shallow sea known as the Michigan Basin, centered in Michigan stretched outward to surrounding areas of today’s Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ontario Canada. Mountain streams carrying red iron oxide deposited sediments into the sea forming a large delta which over the years became the Queenston Shale.

This magnificent landscape is believed to form with overgrazing the soft layer of the shale by farming that exposed this red iron rich material. The farming has stopped in 1931, however the erosion continues increasing this remarkable site in size.

The hills and gullies are composed of clay containing mostly red iron oxide and green iron oxide visible as greenish-gray bands throughout the land.

Throughout the world, this type of landscape is known as the badlands where clay rich soils have been severely eroded by wind and water. Badlands can be found in various places around the world however they are truly unique in this part of the world as they are surrounded by forests, farmland of mostly flat terrain, and are nothing like 99% of Ontario.
