The Easter Egg Hunt
I just wanted to share a few pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt, Stewart/Hyder style. Just past they dump, out on the tide flats there were literally hundreds of eggs hidden for kids of all ages to find. Every child received a treat bag after the hunt as well as hotdogs and pop for everyone courtesy of the Stewart Fire Department.

Spring?
The sun has been shining all week, the temperatures are warming up and the snow is melting, but more importantly, I found a few little crocuses blooming in my yard yesterday....I think it may just be spring. My husband also saw a black bear in Hyder yesterday, which is another sign that spring is on its way. Not to say that we might still get the odd snow as it is still snowing up in the mountains, but I think we might just have turned that corner to spring.
Just to put it all into perspective though, here is a picture of more of the yard. E is about4 feet tall so it give you an idea how much snow we still have, and if you look closely down by her feet, you can see my precious few crocuses poking up through the ground.

Mountains
It would be safe to say that we are surrounded by mountains. Every direction you look all you can see our mountains, and the beauty is astounding!
Monday was a fabulous day and a great way to March break. Since it was so nice out the kids and I went for a bike ride to Alaska. All the mountain photographs below were taken from the Hyder Alaska dock.

12 of 12 for 2012 March
My goodness, I cannot believe it has been a month since I last update my blog. Where does the time go???
I know I am late posting my 12 pictures taken on the 12th of March, but I promise all these pictures were taken on the 12. It was just that we were out of town and I was not able to post at the time. Since we had to head out of town, I decided to take some pictures of the 60 km drive from town here to the highway that connects us to the rest of the province.
Going left to right in rows top to bottom.
1. Snow covered mountain peak. You can see a glacier to the right of the frame.
2. Another peak. It looks like a billboard up there, but this was taken with my lens at 285mm, so really it is barely larger than a spot from the ground. We think it marks a landing pad for the helicopters to drop of the heli-skiers to ski down the other side of the mountain.
3. The controlled avalanche from a few days prior which the road crews were still working at clearing from the road.
4. Just another of the many mountains along the way.
5. Out bridge that washed out in the September from the heavy rains. There is a temporary bridge in place right beside it, and the crews will start work on a new permanent bridge soon.
6. A glimpse of Lake Meziadin through the trees. It was so pretty with all the fog rising off the lake.

8. Just to show you how you can see the mountains along the road.
9. A glacier between peeks. I love how the ice is a bluish colour.
10. Driving into the sun.

See it really is a very pretty drive.

For February's 12 pictures on the 12th of the month, I took a bunch of pictures out at the local ski hill where were spent the afternoon. I am not actually sure why it is called "The Ski Hill" since I do not think anyone actually skis down it, but I do know the kids have fun out there on their snowmobiles and toboggans.

Beautiful Sunrises
It is often overcast or foggy here, but this past week, we the weather has been a little nicer and we have been blessed with some beautiful sunrises.
