On the Road Again

After a little Thanksgiving break, I wanted to get back to posting pictures from our trip out west.

From Colorado we headed to Utah.  It is amazing how different the landscape was on the other side of the Rocky mountains.

Off in the distance, but in front of the La Sal mountains you can see some of Arches and the unique rock formations in Utah.

You can see how the landscape was changing again as we approached Moab.

Thanksgiving

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all my family, friends and blog followers a wonderful Thanksgiving!  For those of you who are not Canadian and therefore not celebrating Thanksgiving, I am sure you still have plenty to be thankful for and I hope you have a wonderful day as well.

Through the Rockies

After leaving Garden of the Gods we headed into the Rocky mountains on our way across the great state of Colorado.

 The smell of fresh pine up in the mountains is just wonderful.

Garden of the Gods, Colorado

Unfortunately, Garden of the Gods, did not have much parking for large trailers so we could not stay for long, but we did stop for a short time to check it out a little bit.

Garden of the Gods is  free attraction in Colorado Springs, and well worth the stop for the scenery.  There is a nature and visitor centre where you can watch videos and see exhibits on the area's geology, ecology and cultural history.  You can also hike around the park  take the guided tour bus (small fee applies to tour bus).   Kids love it because they can walk around and climb on all the rocks.

Hello Colorado

From Kansas we drove into Colorado.  Initially, the landscape was very flat and wide open like Kansas, but it was nice to see big fluffy white clouds again.  Nebraska, and Kansas were full of bright sunshine and gorgeous blue skies. 

It was not long before the mountains started to appear in the distance.

We were driving into Boulder as the sun was setting over the mountain.  What an amazing site!

Kansas

From Omaha we continued west and then headed south into Kansas.

Kansas has plenty of wide open spaces for the cattle to roam. 

If the land is not being used to raise cattle, then it is being used as farmland.

Who can think of Kansas without thinking of the Wizard of Oz and tornados.  This particular place we drove past is always windy, so they have turned it into a huge wind farm. There were wind turbines as far as the eye could see.
