More on the Flood Watch and Road Conditions

Stewart Flood Watch

That is what they are calling it, but so are the town seems safe, cut off from the rest of the world, but safe. 

I just wanted to post on here for friends and family who are following the situation here. 

They are saying that we have had 10 inches of rain so far for in the month of September.  This has caused major problems in our little community.  Some of the industrial sites in town have flooded there is standing water everywhere and I know there are a few wet basements too.  So far our home has remained nice and dry. It stopped raining early Friday and the last 2 days have been beautiful weather wise, so much of the standing water has gone down.

The major problem is that the only road into and out of town has been washed out by the rain waters overflowing the creeks and riverbeds in the area.  One of the bridges also gave way to the incredible force of the water and let loose.  It is going to take a considerable amount of time to repair all the damage to the road and get us reconnected the rest of Canada.  In the mean time the town is making plans to have food and fuel brought in on barges.

Here are just a few pictures of some of the rain and water sitting on Thursday morning, and remember it rained all day Thursday so things did get worse before they started to improve.

Saying Goodbye

Well, it is been a long, long time since I posted on my blog, but for good reason.  It has been a crazy busy summer with many changes, but things are settling down now, so hopefully I will be able to get back to blogging more regularly.

As some of you may or may not know, we have relocated our family from Southwestern Ontario to Northern British Columbia.  This was quite an undertaking to say the least, with all the plans to be made, and packing, packing, packing that needed to be done and numerous other emergencies that happened during the preparations.  Somehow we managed to get everything done though and headed out across the country on time, as planned.    We managed to  squeeze a little site seeing in along the way, so over then next little while I would like to share some of those sites with you here on the blog.

I loved our place, as we had done so much to truly make it our home, so it was hard to say goodbye, but at the same time I am looking forward to this new adventure in my life.

Finally on the road.  Let the journey begin!

Could Spring Finally Be Here?

It certainly has been a cold, windy and rainy spring.  Despite the weather, the grass is growing...I know, I had to cut it today, it was getting so long, and believe it or not a few of my daffodils have started to bloom.  I even found flower buds in the tulips.

Happy Easter Everyone

Just a quick post to wish everyone a wonderful Easter celebration and to share a few of the goodies we made this year.

We actually decided to use these little bunnies at cupcake toppers. 

They even came complete with fluffy little tails.

6 Month Old Beauty

I photographed this little girl along with her beautiful family when she was just a newborn (see here).  It was such a pleasure to be able to photograph her at 6 months again.  I love seeing how much they have grown and how their little personalities are shining through already. 

Little Miss was just the sweetest, happiest little one you could ever meet.

 

I think every little girl dreams of being a princess, and Miss A is no exception.  She was already dreaming about it at the time of her  first photo session, and here she is now showing off a new princess crown.

 

I love this little hat and she just looks so adorable in it!

Baby Love

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this little guy at 3 weeks old.  Now, this is a little older than I usually like to photograph them because babies loose that newborn squishiness so quickly, but baby "T" turned out to be the perfect little model.

I could not have asked for a happier more relaxed baby.  

Boy, do I wish I could sleep this peacefully. 

I could not pass up incorporating these gorgeous wood floors into a photo or two.

Mr "T" even decided to show off his beautiful baby blues.

Since he was awake he had a little one on one time with Dad

and Mom.

 

 I was even able to capture this gorgeous family portrait.
